Anyone going into a venture would always expect profit from it. No one wants to be a failure.
Even as an artist, you'd always be praying and looking out for that lucky break and that "one song".

As there is no smoke without fire, To become a successful artist there are certain that must be done.

There are four things that determine your success as an upcoming act. If you lack them all forget about ever making it in the Nigerian music industry.
If you have some, that'd help a little. Having all keeps you on a pretty safe side.

In hierarchical order, that is in order of importance from the most important to the least important, BoomNG presents four determinants to your success.
They are:-

1. A strong Label and A good Manager.

   As you sing, you would also need an advocate or a link to channel your music to the right places. That's what a label and a manager would do for you.

Characteristics of A strong Label

1. A strong label mustn't be headed by an upcoming artist like you are.
2. A strong label is not a crew or a group therefore it must be registered under CAC.
3. A strong label is one in which the order of ranking and positioning is carefully mapped out.
4. A strong label should be able to fend for the needs of the artists signed under it.


   So, if you belong to a label that doesn't have such characteristics aforementioned then you are just wasting your time.

Characteristics of A good Manager

1. A good manager should be an advocate.
2. A good manager must be very diplomatic, reserved but out-spoken.
3. A good manager must make sure he/she works out and clinches deals for you.
4. He/she must serve as a counsellor, helping you in decision taking.
5. He/she must serve as a link betwixt you and the world.
6. A good manager must be credible, honest, zealous and true to the core.

   One silly mistake upcoming artists make is allowing other upcoming artists to be their manager, that is simply a foolish move.

If your manager and record label has none of these characteristics or is lacking in some, you bet you are lacking in the first determinant to success as an upcoming act.

2. Money

   Money answers all things. Money is point two.
If you have a strong label, money might be of little importance but notwithstanding Money is very relevant if you must succeed as an upcoming act.

A broke ass artist even after tasting stardom is as worthless and useless as a dead rat.
It completely indisputable and unarguable that artists like Davido, Yung6ix, Wizboy, IllBliss e.t.c are still having their taste of stardom because of their individual wealth.
They are balling on the amount they've got and not on the amount they've earned.

Getting a strong label might seen useless when you have money but the duties of a manager still hold great importance.
Writing off a record label because you've got a lot of cash is not a pretty good move, you'd still need the services of one.

3. Love From The People.

In your mind you'd be saying this is the most important, well in a way Yes but with the first two points it's not hard to get the peoples love.

The love from the people is like a propellant. It amplifies your music, it gets you a fertile ground for your career, it provides you fame and popularity as quick as the speed of light.

Once the people have begun to show interest in you then you've risen to a point where in I can say your journey to stardom has fully begun.
