Earning Ways In The Music Industry, For Upcoming Artists

Even though music is a very lucrative venture upcoming artists are still in the dark on how to earn via music.

For a long time I disputed that fact until an upcoming artist asked me how he could earn money from music.

I was speechless and then it occurred to me that very many are in the entertainment industry or better still many parade themselves as upcoming artists but do not know how to earn from music.

Today, I'd be showing you how earn money, not as a superstar or some dope-wizkid-kinda-artist but as a struggling-upcoming-act.

1. Shows

I am still wondering why I placed this first. Hosting shows is a very nice but difficult mean of earning as an upcoming act as you'd have to face the problems of cost of running the whole show and then peoples turn up.
  Hosting a show is determinant on these factors.

a. Performing Acts
  In every society there are upcoming artists who are rated higher than others, who are most loved and have acquired a certain degree of fame and popularity, if you must host a successful show and amass a large turn up, bring in such artists.
The people would love to see their favourite upcoming acts on the stage.

b. Timing

  As important as performing acts can be to a show, Timing is also paramount. Timing is essential in hosting a show. If the timing for your show is not properly set or falls at the wrong time, expect a negative blow.
Consider this scenario:-
" An upcoming artist plans on hosting a show to drop his EP and coincidentally it falls on the same day in which a celebrity like Tekno is hosting a show in that same town, what do you think would happen??
Most definitely people would rush to the venue for Tekno's show.
There are times when hosting a show would seem perfect and there are times when it could be a disaster.

c. Hall & Security

  This is one thing I always look out for before I attend shows. As necessary as timing and performing acts can be, a secured venue is essential too.
If you are unable to provide enough security for the lives and properties of the people coming to your show be assured of a massive blow to your face.
No one would risk his/her life valuables just to attend your show. Every one wants a secured ground.
Also, there are halls people just love to go to.

d. DJ

   Not of much importance but at least no artist would love to climb a stage and begin to wait for the Dj to play his/her song. If there is anything that makes a show whack it's a dull Dj.
A good Dj makes a good sound system and a good sound system makes a lovely show.

Hosting Shows isn't just the only means of earning as regards Shows, performing in shows is also another way.
Although not as lucrative as the former, Performing in shows and getting paid for it comes only when you've got a strong footing in the game.

2. Album/CD Sales

Well, this form of earning has been relegated and considered an old-fashioned trend.
Notwithstanding, Money must be made through whatever honest means.
Due to the ease of downloading songs and it's easy access, Album/CD Sales are not recognized only on very few occasions but it still serves as a cooler means of earning.

3. Being Featured

Just like performing in a show and getting paid, being featured and getting paid comes only when you've gained a strong footing in the game.
