Muslim faithfuls in all states of Nigeria have been directed to look out for the new moon of Rabi’al-Awwal 1441AH from Monday, October 28.
The directive was given by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Sunday, October 26.
The respected monarch disclosed this in a statement signed on his behalf by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, the chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto.
The sighting of the new moon will usher in the third month in the Islamic Year.
Going further, The News Agency Of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Rabi’al-Awwal is the month in which Muslims celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
Consequently, the sultan urges anyone who sights the new moon to report such to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to the Sultan.
The Sultan prayed for Allah’s help to all Muslims in the discharge of their religious duties.
